Mitutoyo as a global industry partner of the 45th WorldSkills competition

Promoting professional education as one of the main tools for social and economic development is the main legacy of the biannually held WorldSkills competition. From the 22nd until the 27th of August, 2019, the 45thchampionship in Kazan, Russia will again bring close to 1,600 young professionals from all over the world together, aiming to inspire young people to study technical education and vocational skills for their career. They represent the best of their peers worldwide and have qualified in national contests in order to compete in the world’s most prestigious competition of its kind.

From the traditional trades to multi-skilled technology careers in the industry and service sectors, supported by partners, industries, governments, volunteers, and educational institutions, WorldSkills makes a direct impact on raising the level of skill throughout the world.

As a premium manufacturer of outstanding longitudinal measuring instruments, Mitutoyo will support competition areas in the manufacturing sector with its technical expertise, measuring machines and over 800 instruments being made readily available for competitor use. The Japanese company will also show samples of their extensive product range and its various applications along with education, training and career advice to the many visitors. On top of that, by measuring the competitors’ workpieces in respect of dimensional accuracy, using some of the world’s finest measuring equipment, Mitutoyo plays an essential role in the contests.

The organisation teams – amongst them, more than 3,500 volunteers – will hold the event under the slogan “Skills for the Future”. Participants compete in no less than 56 skill competitions from six different sectors.

Since the closing ceremony in Abu Dhabi in October 2017, the WorldSkills flag has been travelling all over the world, including the North Pole aboard an ice breaker. It was even launched into space and raised on board of the International Space Station (ISS). After making its way through numerous regions and cities of Russia, it will finally reach Kazan, the 1.2 million inhabitant Tatarstan republic capital, for the opening flag parade of the 45thWorldSkills competition.
